The Jerk Review Pt 1 - House's Jerk Appeal Still Works in Season Six

By: Bryan S Arnold

Here is the first part of our Jerk Reviews. I know you may have thought this review would have a bunch of jerk talk and what not. But no. This is an examination of society's love of the Jerk in today's world. And no better way to start but with Fox's hit show House.

I believe Hugh Laurie who plays Dr. Gregory House may be the O.G. of Today's TV jerks. King of the Jerks if you will.

But is it a still a hit in Season 6? Are people still falling for his Jerk routine? I think so...

First of all the Season 6 pilot of House had to be one of the best I've seen in recent memory. This year Dr. Gregory has to reinvent himself through rehab that he fights at first.

But he surprisingly meets his match in a doctor named Dr. Darryl Nolan played by Andre Braugher. He's first seen at a pysch ward where he matches wits with this doctor and actually gets outsmarted. Not something he's used to no doubt.

And this year he starts to learn some lessons on being humble and toning down his Jerky ways. For the first time maybe he understands that the persona he gives off, is just a way of blocking something inside.

With that being said, he still has to be rude and obnoxious when he can or he's just not himself. Plus the show would be boring without it. So yes he learns his lessons but in the following episodes beyond the pilot, we see he just can't help himself.

I wouldn't say he's still a jerk...he's just jerkish!

And you know what? I don't think any loyal fan of the show would have it any other way. He's the bad boy that all ladies love and dull guys aspire to be. So long live the Jerk cuz for TV it works (that rhymed).

So is House still a hit in season six? uh...yeah! Enough Said.
