Saved by the Bell - Best 1990s Teen Show

By: Laura Rosewall

There were many great TV shows and sitcoms from the 1990s involving teenagers. There was Fred Savage on the Wonder Years, as we relived his 1960s and 1970s childhood. There was Boy Meets World, as we relived Ben Savage's modern day teen years. There was 90210, and everyone who watched this felt like they were a part of the gang at Beverly Hills High. Other people liked Full House, as the entertaining Tanner family in San Francisco always had great things happening in the house.

At the end of the day, the best of them all was Saved by the Bell. The gang from Bayside High was absolutely classic, and millions of people all over the country would tune in every Saturday to watch the newest epsiode of this great show.

A comedy at heart, but one with meaningful story lines that pulled the show's viewers in, Saved by the Bell never missed a beat. The characters were all highly entertaining. Whether it was Zack and his preppy ways, Slater and his jock/bad boy image, Kelly Capowski, the all-American cheerleader, Screech, the stereotypical nerd, Jesse Spano, the intellectual overachiever, or Lisa Turtle, the fashion queen, everyone on the show had their place and blended in perfectly as a cast.

Mr. Belding made an equally entertaining principal, as he was one of those guys you loved to hate, but had a soft spot for at the end of the day.

The best thing about Saved by the Bell is the widespread availability of the show's reruns. Thankfully, the many classic episodes still live on today.
