"How I Met Your Mother" - Ted Mosby and Barney Stinson - The Leaders of the Show

By: Adam Masterson

The show "How I Met Your Mother" is on CBS every Monday night from 8-8:30pm. It is a fun comedy about five 20 or 30-somethings, who live in New York City and it chronicles their lives. It has become a cult favorite with many people in this demographic, which can be attributed to the many pop culture references and the genuine writing.

The point of the show is to essentially take you through the late twenties and early thirties of the protagonist, Ted Mosby, and eventually divulge how he met his wife. One of the other male characters is Barney Stinson, played by Neil Patrick Harris, who is the clown and most amusing part of the show.

Ted is truly a romantic at heart. He believes that he is going to eventually find "the one," but each time he thinks he does, it ends up ruining the current relationship in some way. Ted is an architect who recently was unemployed and just got a job at Columbia University as a professor of architecture. He states in the one of the first episodes of this current season that while teaching the wrong class, he acknowledges to the audience that his wife was in the room. However, of course, who it was is not divulged.

Barney Stinson is the quintessential alpha male, always looking to find some way to hit on a girl and take them home. He doesn't believe in marriage or even relationships lasting more than one night, but recently fell for Robin, one of the other main characters, and seems willing to try out a serious relationship. Barney is the favorite character of many fans of the show because of his crazy antics and theories for why things are the way they are.
